General X-Ray Services

General X-rays are among the most commonly performed diagnostic imaging examinations. Using a controlled, focused burst of X-ray energy, images are captured of the specific area being examined to support accurate diagnosis. At YPS Imaging, we perform X-ray examinations for the chest, spine, bones, abdomen and various other parts of the body. Our qualified and experienced radiographers carefully position the area being scanned to ensure clear, precise images. X-ray imaging is non-invasive, quick and straightforward, making it a convenient option for patients and referring doctors.

Do I need an appointment for a general X-ray?

Appointments are not always required for general X-rays. We welcome walk-in patients, however you may also book ahead for convenience.

Yes. General X-rays use a low dose of radiation and are only performed when clinically necessary. We follow strict safety guidelines to minimise exposure.

General X-rays usually require no special preparation. Please bring your referral and Medicare card, wear comfortable clothing, and remove any jewellery or metal objects from the area being examined. If you think you may be pregnant, inform the radiographer before the examination.

The examination typically takes 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the area being imaged and the number of images required.
