X-Rays are the first step for Medical Imaging. This examination is non-invasive, painless and does not require any recovery time. The dose of radiation from an X-Ray examination is considered safe – roughly the same as you would receive from the general environment in about one week.
Your doctor or health care provider may refer you for an X-Ray for
  • Fractures
  • Lung or ribs conditions
  • Back pain
At YPS Imaging, We Bulk Bill for all Xrays with eligible Medicare card holders. We accept all radiology referrals. We welcome walk-in patients for X-rays examinations. Appointments can be made by calling us, but they are not necessary.

During Examination

Before Examination

Bring your X-Ray request (doctor’s referral letter) and Medicare card before coming to the clinic. For General X-Rays, there is no preparation required.

  • Payment is on the day of the service.
  • There is no Medicare rebate on it
  • We accept cash or EFTPOS payment.

During Examination

If you think you might be pregnant please let the radiographer know, to avoid unnecessary radiation to an unborn baby. Prior to the examination, you will be asked to remove any jewellery or metal objects in the region of the X-Ray and you may be required to change into a gown.

Once the YPS Imaging radiographer has explained about the examination, you will be asked to lie or sit down according to the specific images required. Please listen to breathing instructions while X-Rays are taken, Radiographer may ask you to hold still and sometimes give you specific breathing instructions.

X-Ray examinations may take 5-10 minutes to complete.

After Examination

YPS Imaging will provide your X-Ray report to your referring doctor or health care provider within 24 hours of your examination. Urgent reports can be produced, if requested by Doctor, within 2 hours.

Risks involved with X-Rays

The benefit of X-Rays far outweighs the small estimated risk. X-Rays are only performed where it is deemed necessary for the patient’s benefit. YPS Imaging strictly follows Australian Institute of Radiography’s ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle for the benefit of their patients.
